Andrea Motis Trio

ANDREA MOTIS TRIO

Although Andrea Motis is only 23 years old, her musical maturity far exceeds the expectation of her years. This is because he started playing the trumpet at the age of seven and three years later he started studying jazz at the Municipal School of Music of Sant Andreu with Joan Chamorro, who recruited Andrea shortly afterwards to be part of his band, still being a teenager. While still studying at school he was a member of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band for nine years in which he recorded eight albums and played live with the likes of trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, saxophonist Jesse Davis, clarinetist Bobby Gordon and saxophonist Dick Oatts, among others. In addition to the trumpet, Motis plays the alto saxophone. But he premiered as a singer with Chamorro's band. "The trumpet has always been my main instrument," says Motis when asked if he prefers his instrumentalist or vocalist role. "Playing the trumpet is like meditating for me, it is a very important part of my life. But I do not want to have to choose only one of my artistic aspects, because I love playing all of them ".

Andrea Motis, voice, trumpet.
